Day 1: Excursion “Birds and Dolphins” – Playas- Ballenita

Starting at Puerto El Morro you can spot different species of egrets and pelicans during a boat tour through the mangroves. At the Bird's island in the middle of the large Guayas River you will stop for taking a short walk on the island and observing home and nesting place of thousands of fregate birds. On the way back, you will watch the dolphins which live in the estuary of the Guayas River. Continue your journey crossing the Santa Elena peninsula to the Hostería Farrallon Dillon in Ballenita, where you can enjoy a panoramic view from a steep cliff.

Day 2: Ballenita- Dos Mangas- Puerto López

We start this journey with a visit of the famous museum “Amantes de Sumpa”, where we learn a lot about the life on the coast in prespanish times. Subsequently, our drive continues in a northward direction passing several small fishing villages. Frequently we will be enjoying panaromic views of the ocean and beautiful sandy beaches stretching for miles. In the small community of Dos Mangas you have the possibility to observe the work of a Tangua-nut boner or to go on a short hike (depending on the season). Two overnight stays at Hostería Mandala.

Day 3: Boat ride to Isla de la Plata

Today, you embark on a boat ride to the island of La Plata, located about 30 km from the mainland. Depending on the season, you may see some sea lions, various species of boobies and albatrosses. Between June and September you also have a chance to observe humpback whales.

Day 4: Los Frailes- Guayaquil

In the morning, we drive to Playa de los Frailes. This is a beautiful sandy beach, which is part of Machalilla National Park and therefore preserved in its natural state. There is enough time for swimming and relax. You can also hike along the beautiful, long beaches. In the afternoon return-voyage to Guayaquil.
